Lead Speech Language Pathologist
ASHA, Spero Ally of Stuttering
Deer Park, Texas
I have been a speech pathologist for 30 years, and for the past 12 years, I’ve had the honor of serving as the Lead Speech-Language Pathologist for Deer Park ISD. My career has taken me across diverse settings, including private practice, home health, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and public schools. Throughout these years, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring and training speech pathology assistants, graduate students, interns, and fellow speech-language pathologists, fostering a new generation of professionals dedicated to making a difference in communication.
One of my deepest passions is supporting students who stutter. Inspired by the idea of creating a space where students who stutter can connect, learn, and grow, I founded Houston Stuttering Fun Day. This half-day event has been held four times and has involved respected professional organizations like: National Stuttering Association, Stuttering Association for the Young, and prominent figures such as: Nina and Lee Reeves, Tess Andrade (of the Houston Texans), Anthony Vail (from Houston Police Department), and TrUmaine Johnson (NFL Player). The event provides students and their families with a supportive environment to share experiences, learn from one another, and build a strong community of support.
I am committed to continuing this work and sharing my knowledge in the creation of support groups for students who stutter with fellow professionals. To me, there is no greater joy than contributing to the gift of communication and guiding others to do the same.
